The Southwest Regional Museum of Art and Art Center was born when one person conceived of sharing her art collection. This collection has been joined by others, and that first desire has now become a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational charity for residents of Silver City, Grant County, Southwest New Mexico and visitors from everywhere.
The Museum’s Permanent Collection now comprises many gifts of art. This collection will continue to grow with more gifted and purchased works of art.

All art collectors feel the joy of each addition to his or her collection, but eventually the thought occurs;
“What will happen to my collection when I pass?”
They begin to plan a way to share so these personal pieces of art could be enjoyed by all. The Museum has been
honored and grateful to the many families who have donated artwork from their collections.

The Southwest Regional Museum of Art owns an extensive collection of paintings and drawings including works by Richard Diebenkorn, Will Shuster, James Hubble, John Winkler, and Raphael Foyer, Richard Lindner, Gustave Baumann.

The Southwest Regional Museum of Art owns an extensive collection of original prints of etchings, woodcuts, and lithographs including works by Birger Sandzen, Richard Lindner, Raphael Soyer and Gustave Gaumann.
